- The Chamber’s Reverse Raffle is coming up on April 12, 2008. Don’t miss out on a fun evening and a chance to win $5000! - Eastwood Homes announces the addition of Kristen Bowers and Jason Faulkner to their growing Coastal Carolina Division. Kristen is the New Homes Specialist for Baron’s Bluff located on Bear Bluff Road off of Route 90. Jason will be responsible for all of the construction aspects for their first Conway community. Their model home – The Kingston- is currently under construction and will be ready by the end of March. Visit them in the 2008 Parade of Homes in April. - Swamp Fox PC Repair and several downtown businesses are selling Relay for Life raffle tickets. The drawing will be April 18, 2008 at the Relay for Life event in Conway. All proceeds will help support the Relay for Life cause. Ticket prices are $3 for 1 ticket, $5 for 2 tickets or $10 for 5 tickets. - Celebrate National Deaf History Month. Come and see a chronological poster series of Deaf culture and the Deaf community from the 1800’s till present, as developed by Gallaudet University. Learn about the history of our own South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind. The exhibit will be available through March 30, 2008. or call 843-915-5320. - “Welcome to the World of Sign Language” Wednesday March 11, 2008. After School Program, 3:45 pm – 4:45 pm. Who: Dorothy Bambach, Director South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind Coastal Regional Outreach Center, Conway SC. Dr. Bambach will instruct the students in conversational sign language. The manual alphabet and survival sign phrases will be taught. This is in conjunction with the observation of Deaf History Month. Open to the public, and free. Children are encourage to attend, ages 8 and up. Location: Horry County Museum, 438 Main Street, Conway, SC 29526. Hours: Monday through Saturday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and Sunday 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
- A red carpet event slated to raise funds for the local American Red Cross Heroes Campaign will be held at the Tara Theatre in Litchfield March 15. “Hooray for Hollywood” will feature local celebrities as guests at Dino’s TV Variety Show that evening at 8 p.m. An Academy Awards-type pre-show begins at 7 p.m. followed by a cash bar and heavy hors d’oeuvres. Tickets are $50 or $75 for VIP treatment, which includes a star along the Walk of Fame, a photo and other treats. The event is black tie optional but star costumes are preferred. - The newest Hometown Network News DVD with a “Cities Mean Business” theme made its debut at Hometown, SC Legislative Action Day last week. The new DVD is produced so that cities and towns of all sizes can use it on their PEG channels, at civic club meetings or as a presentation at local engagement sessions.
