HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION MEANS SUMMERTIME IS HERE
Kelli James, our Chamber’s administrative vice president, recently watched her daughter, Katie, receive her Aynor High School diploma. For Kelli, Katie is still and will always be the baby girl who she rocked to sleep at night…the child she saw through skinned knees, elementary school, hormones, first car, heart breaks, prom nights, and now her first glimpse into adulthood. But for Katie, she’s ready to take on the world. Opportunities are endless and she’s gutsy enough to go out and seize them all.
Katie spent the weekend at the beach with her friends, and plans to enjoy her summer before becoming an official “grown up.” For Katie and all of our other local graduates, many of our Conway Chamber members offer fun and excitement all summer long. Myrtle Beach Grand Prix and Wild Water & Wheels on Hwy. 17 South in Surfside offer discounted rates for groups of 15 or more. At Wild Water & Wheels, groups can enjoy access to the water park for $15 per person, or upgrade for an additional $5 per person and enjoy bumper boats, paddle boats, miniature golf, and go carts. The Myrtle Beach Grand Prix rate for 15 or more is $14.98 plus tax and includes access to the park’s three zones, including the race zone, kiddie zone and thrill zone. For more information on taking your group, contact Karen at 238-3787.
Ripley’s Aquarium also offers group rates for our young thrill seekers. For adult groups of 15 or more, the rate is $13.50 per person. For something a little more exotic, try sleeping with the sharks in the aquarium’s Dangerous Reef Tunnel. The aquarium offers a night filled with learning activities designed to meet the needs of any age group. Activities include an aquarium scavenger hunt, a craft activity, an educational presentation, a late night snack and a continental breakfast, as well as a self-guided aquarium tour. All overnight guests should bring a white t-shirt to “fish print,” a sleeping bag and pillow. To make a reservation or to learn more about summer camps available, call Mary at 916-0888, ext. 226.
Waccamaw Bowling Center also offers an array of summer specials. Quarter Days are Monday through Sunday from 1 p.m. — 5 p.m. The cost is .25 cents per game, shoes not included or $5 for an all you can bowl day including shoes. Dollar Days are Monday through Sunday from 5 p.m. — 9 p.m. The cost is $1 per game and $2 for shoes. Tuesday evening is reserved for Christian Nights from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Cost is $1 per game and $2 for shoes. Christian Nights are non-smoking and non-alcoholic. Saturdays are smoke free from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays are smoke and alcohol free from open to close. For more information call 236-1020.
Here’s a little something else Katie and her girlfriends need to try. Dream Land Skating Arena is offering Ladies Night every Tuesday from 7 p.m. until closing. While others skate, ladies can enjoy a Beauticontrol spa escape experience with a certified consultant — absolutely free! The experience includes a tension relieving neck treatment, nourishing eye and lip treatment, as well as a hand massage. More information about Ladies Night is available by calling 369-2055.
So, to all of our graduates, regardless of what you choose to do with your lives and where you intend to live, make this summer fun. Congratulations on your graduation from the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce!
