Conway Civic Clubs Spread The Christmas Cheer
Conway is bursting at the seams with Christmas spirit. Our town’s civic groups are all over the place spreading holiday cheer. You’ll find the Pilot Club out and about this Sunday, December 10, from 3-6 p.m., hosting their annual Conway Christmas Tour of Homes. Locations on tour include Todd and Mary Williams at 511 Laurel Street, Ginny and Larry Biddle at 701 Lakeside Drive, Lisa and Wade Crawford at 506 Cloverfield Lane, The Cypress Inn at 16 Elm Street, Stacy and Tony Zack at 504 Beaty Street, and Letty and Greg Smith at 509 Cloverfield Lane. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from a Pilot Club member or at the Conway Chamber office.
Members of the Waccamaw Sertoma Club can be seen selling their Sertoma Christmas trees near the Sidewheeler Restaurant. Stop by and check out the various sizes and shapes. I’m sure some helpful gentlemen will help you select and load, as well as accommodate your purchase with just the right tree stand.
Our Conway Lions Club is sponsoring their annual bicycle program and is currently taking donations for the event, which provides underprivileged children with a bicycle at Christmas time. Last year, the group gave away nearly 130 bikes and saw the smiles of many of Horry County’s children as they wheeled their new treasure away. A special thank you goes out to the Lion’s Club this year for their help, once again, with the Conway Christmas parade. Their help is surely priceless!
The Conway Kiwanis Club will host their annual Christmas Party for special needs children of Horry County. Planned for December 14 in the Commons Area at Coastal Carolina University, the club will lunch with more than 450 children who have been selected by their school to participate. Each child will be presented with a gift selected especially for him/her, as well as a stuffed animal, and of course, lunch with Santa.
You’ll find members of one of our newest clubs, the Rivertown Civitans, working during Fostering Hope’s snowflake carnival, which will follow the Conway Christmas parade on Saturday. The event is sponsored by Fostering Hope and is designed to give all of Horry County’s foster children a wonderful Christmas memory. The event will be held at the historic peanut warehouse in downtown. The Civitans is a growing club, so all are invited to attend one of their meetings to learn more about how you can get involved as a Rivertown Civitan.
