CHAMBER TO OFFER NEW MEMBERSHIP SERVICE

The Conway Area Chamber of Commerce is Conway’s business advocate and champion for business. Our primary objective is to create a climate of growth and success in our community.

We provide leadership opportunities, volunteer programs and business-building initiatives that focus on the critical priorities of our community.

By leveraging the support, talent and resources of our members, the Conway Chamber connects business leaders to each other and helps to improve the economic vitality and quality for life for everyone.

During this upcoming fiscal year, we will implement a member-to-member service seminar component to our list of Chamber benefits. Our first seminar, which is scheduled for Wednesday, October 25 from 8 to 10 a.m., will help businesses better prepare for catastrophic events and disasters, which could range from the overcoming the effects of a hurricane, to the death of an employer or vital employee. Approximately 90 percent of small business owners do not have in place a continuity plan should such a crisis occur.

The seminar will be set up as an interactive workshop, and participants will walk away with valuable information on how to create a plan of attack to be immediately implemented prior to and in the face of disaster.

As the Chamber Director, I welcome your ideas for such member-to-member service seminars. About what does our community need to learn? What information would help you better operate your business? Would you like to learn about advertising tips, free marketing tools, or how to set up your Workman’s Compensation plan? Taxes? Basic accounting? The value of email? You tell us your topics of choice and we’ll search for the appropriate speakers and presenters. The members of the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce are invaluable to each other and we’d like to serve as the link between, the bridge to help you better manage day to day activities, which of course matters to your bottom line.

That’s why your Conway Area Chamber of Commerce is here. To better serve you. Please give us a call at 248-2273 or email me directly at bjohnson@conwayscchamber.com and share your thoughts and feelings about the economic growth and opportunities in our area. I’d love to hear from you!

Our Chamber Currents column is a weekly article that appears in Conway's local newspaper, The Horry Independent. The article is written our Executive Vice President Bridgette Johnson.
