Bridgette Johnson
Executive Vice President
Conway native Bridgette Moore Johnson is the new executive director for the Conway Chamber of Commerce. She brings more than 10 years experience in promotions and public relations to her new position. Her overall objective for the upcoming year is to successfully promote Conway and Commerce…together. Bridgette’s new responsibilities as executive director include meeting goals and objectives set by the Chamber Board and the Executive Committee, as well as providing effective leadership, management and support of committees of Chamber volunteers and the Chamber staff.
Prior to joining the Conway Chamber of Commerce, Bridgette served as senior public relations coordinator for LHWH Advertising and Public Relations in Myrtle Beach. During her time there, she became recognized as one of the area’s best tourism promotion professionals. She regularly communicated with a network of local, regional and national travel industry media, informing them about the latest developments in Myrtle Beach and encouraging editorial coverage of LHWH’s clients. To keep on top of the latest developments affecting the region’s tourism economy, Bridgette worked closely with the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism, and the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, collecting information on trends that affect South Carolina and the Southeastern region of the United States. She also participated in key conferences such as the Travel South Annual Showcase and the South Carolina Governor’s Conference on Tourism & Travel.
Adept at promoting a wide variety of area attractions, including golf courses, amusements, theaters, and theme restaurants, Bridgette worked daily with the leading national travel and golf publications including Coastal Living, Southern Living, Where To Retire, Family Circle, Golf Magazine and Links. She has also authored an article on the dynamics of a golf equipment company in Women’s Sports Marketing Report.
A well-rounded professional, Bridgette has provided public relations services for clients as diverse as the Catawba Indian Nation, Horry Telephone Cooperative and Anchor Bank. Her expertise in crisis management was spotlighted in PR Tactics, the official newsletter of the Public Relations Society of America.
Bridgette is a graduate of Coastal Carolina University and The University of South Carolina. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Secondary Education and a Master of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communications. Bridgette and her husband, Timmy, have two children, Emma and Elijah.
Kelli S. James
Vice President of Administration
Kelli joined the Conway Chamber staff in August 1997. She is a native Horryite having grown up in the Aynor area and graduating Aynor High School. She attended Coastal Carolina University and Horry Georgetown Technical College. Kelli’s initial experience with Chamber work was with the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber where she served as Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Information Services. Following her tenure with the Myrtle Beach Chamber, she was employed with the Horry County Planning Department Street Addressing Office.
Kelli’s original position with the Conway Chamber was Assistant to the Executive Vice President. As her job duties expanded to include more administrative and financial responsibilities, she was promoted and her job title was upgraded to Vice President of Administration. She is responsible for all financial aspects of the not-for-profit organization including, accounts receivables, accounts payables, monthly financial statements, yearly audits, etc. Kelli also serves as staff liaison to many of the various division, program, and event volunteer committees.
Kelli is married to Lee James and has two children; a daughter Katie, and a son, Jordy.
Kelly M. Long
Membership Services Coordinator
Kelly joined the Conway Chamber staff in May 2001. She is a Horry County native. She grew up in the Conway area and graduated from Conway High School. After high school, she enrolled and was accepted in the Radiologic Technology program at Horry-Georgetown Technical College before transferring to Coastal Carolina University where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and was named to the Dean’s List for academic achievement. Prior to joining the Chamber, she was employed as a teller for The Conway National Bank.
As Membership Services Coordinator, Kelly is responsible for all aspects of membership services for the Chamber. Her duties include new member recruitment and member retention, maintaining membership files, coordinating membership drives, hosting new member receptions, coordinating ribbon cuttings/grand openings, assisting with Business After Hours, etc.
Kelly also serves on several of the Chamber’s divisional committees and is Coordinator of the Conway Christmas Parade.
Kelly is married to Brad Long and lives in Conway. They recently
had a new baby girl, Maylen Mackenzie Long.
Laurie Rollins
Executive Assistant
Laurie joined the Conway Chamber staff in January 2007. She is a Conway native and graduated from Conway High School. After high school, she attended Clemson University where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She was named to the Dean’s List for academic achievement every semester that she was enrolled and was involved in several organizations on campus. Prior to joining the Chamber, she was employed as an assistant to a professor in the Psychology Department where she helped manage a research team and performed basic office duties. While in Clemson, she was also employed by the University’s bookstore and the Central-Clemson Recreation Center. Previously, she was a photographer for Sharpshooter Imaging of Myrtle Beach and a lifeguard for Burroughs and Chapin.
As Executive Assistant, Laurie is responsible for duties as set by the Executive Vice President including interacting with chamber members and giving administrative assistance as well as writing press releases.
